Tuesday Clinic

Another day in sunny Jamaica! It was a tough day for several team members (stomach problems), but we still had a great day. This was team logo day, and it was a close call to see if Missouri or KU had the most team members represented. Bob later became an honorary KU alumnus (but we’re still not sure if he accepted the “honor.”) We also learned that Mohan has a whole new career possibility as a stand-up comic. First thing in the morning, some of our members visited the local Cambridge School to provide them with a donation of books. The children from Pathfinder Elementary in Platte County opened their hearts and libraries to the Brompton School in Black River. The children collected over 2,000 books for their friends in Jamaica. Bob and Mary’s daughter, Jenny, a kindergarten teacher in Platte County, initiated the book drive. On Tuesday, our teams were all busy, but we saw fewer patients than Monday. The dental team had several difficult cases, so they only saw 33 patients; but they still extracted 71 teeth. Our volunteers did 164 lab tests and 25 pap smears. The cardiology team did 20 echocardiograms, and the other docs saw 156 patients on a shorter day. Our pharmacy filled over 215 scripts. We are going to be splitting up on Wed and Thu to visit our friends at the Holland Church.
